PLEASE SUPPORT AND DEFEND YOUR LOCAL BOY/GIRL SCOUTS OF AMERICA!

Hello Cub Scout's enthusiasts!

Thank you for wanting me to make your awards for you all. However, I have some very disheartening news for all Scouts across the country and world (military).

On Dec. 22, 2011, I awoke at apx 4:00 am to a pop outside. Figuring it to be anything living in the country, I laid back down. A few minutes later another one. This time I reached for my home protection device (G) and noticed and eerie orange glow outside the bedroom window. I knew instantly what was happening. I rounded the corner into the kitchen to the window looking outside directly to my shop only to witness a terrifying explosion of flame!

My shop burned to the ground with a heat so intense it melted commercial Home Depot steel display shelving units. 20 years worth of tools, knapping stones from around the world with some considered precious stones such as opal (which you CAN make arrowheads from!), hundreds of supplies, and worst of all collections of real, local arrow points as well as an extensive collection of points from various knapping friends from around the world. My biggest loss is the points made by friends, as some of those friends are no longer living. I remember another items or items almost daily which I now realize were lost in that horrible fire! My shop had been my creation area for my hand-made arts for the past 15 years, 10 or more of those years making the Arrow of Ligh awards.

We lived in a rural area with a volunteer fire department who got there as fast as they could, however, the house caught fire before they arrived and burned enough to render it unliveable. In my haste to always provide everyone with the best products available, I never thought to insure my valuable shop. Additionally, in a miscommunication with my wife, our home insurance had been cancelled recently before our fire. Needless to say, our family of 7 was instantly homeless and all tools were lost.

The biggest grace is the fact that it WAS the shop and NOT our house, AND all the children and pets escaped without injury, and all of our vital records and photos were not lost, thanks to the AWESOME BAILEY VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT, who also pulled the children's presents from the house "just in case"! Thank God for the good!

It is with deep sorrow that I am forced to inform the Scouting community that SPIRIT WIND is currently no longer in business, and for an undetermined amount of time. Our first goal is to find another house, and after that I will be working fast to rebuild SPIRIT WIND's ability to continue to provide the Cub Scouts of America with the highest quality Arrow of Light awards available anywhere in the world. Until then, I thank of my customers for spreading the word about SPIRIT WIND through the years.

I look forward to the day, of course hopefully as soon as possible, to being able to provide eager Cub Scouts with the awards they worked so hard for and so earnestly deserve!!

The story of the local fire fighters saving Christmas was written in a local paper and can be found with a Google search or by clicking the link below.

My best to you all.
